A Mother’s Call
She’ll do anything for a simple conversation
It’s been a long day. You’re exhausted.
You’re ready for bed. The lights are off and the TV is off, but the phone is still ringing.
You pick it up and there’s your mom. She just wants to hear your voice and see how you’re doing.
You try to get her off the phone politely, but she’s persistent.
You try to tell her what’s going on, but she just won’t listen.
She doesn’t care that you’re feeling awful, and she doesn’t care that you’re exhausted. She’ll just keep calling.
Eventually, you give up and talk to her. You tell her how you’re feeling, you tell her how you’re doing.
You tell her what you need, and she promises to get it for you.
It’s a phone call that’s ultimately exhausting and draining, but it leaves you feeling better than you were before.
A mother’s call, something I wish I had more of.
